CORPORATE INCLUSION SOLUTIONS
With over 25 years experience in advocacy, capacity-building and comprehensive wheelchair service provision, we are dedicated to promoting a socially inclusive society that reflects equality and shared value across all spheres of life.
SSE is widely known in SA for the manufacture of award-winning mobility and specialised posture support devices. However in recent years it has expanded services to be able to extend focus to economic opportunities for people with disabilities and their families.
30% of the Shonaquip staff have disabilities, role-modelling the economic inclusion of people with disabilities in our inclusive work environment. Many of these employees use a device themselves and understand first-hand how the quality of the device can impact on the participation potential of the user. Their insights are incorporated into the organisation for design and awareness raising.
This equips us to offer an advisory service for local companies seeking to increase disability inclusion in their workforce.
The workplace plays an important role in addressing holistic social inclusion, this being reflected in Employment Equity (EE), Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) and consequently Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) transformation objectives.

DISABILITY AWARENESS AT WORK
Our experienced and diverse teams (which often include people with disabilities) facilitate Disability Awareness participatory workshops across all levels of management and staff groups.
Through a practical, empowering conversation about the Social Model of Disability, teams together begin to identify the barriers to disability inclusion in their own lives as well as in their work environments. More importantly, they discover how they can reduce these barriers.
Participants are empowered with the knowledge and language to facilitate further disability discussions at work.
Following the workshop, participants and Human Resources teams are also linked to our extensive referral network. They also benefit from free referral services by our qualified social services team on an ongoing basis.
