Madiba Seat
The Madiba is our original rugged rural posture support buggy seat. It was designed for clients in need of more postural support than what a traditional wheelchair or stroller can offer. It provides cushioned full body and head support that can be easily configured to optimally position and align user’s bodies, which can limit the risk of developing postural deformities. It is ideal for children and young adults, from the age of 6 months, who cannot self-propel or sit up independently.
This seat can also be radically modified, through our in-house custom workshop, to accommodate the most advanced postural needs from young children through to adults. We have several different mobility base frame options available for the Madiba buck to meet the needs of our diverse range of clients.
The Madiba Seat comes with a range of seat accessory and mobility base options.

Seat Features
Bucket Seating System
This modular bucket seat is made from durable fibre glass, which provides a solid surface to configure positioning cushions that can be shaped individually to create a custom positioning support for the end user. Ideal for users with high tone that require a stable and secure seat.
Pelvic & Trunk Side Supports
High-density foam supports on either side of the seat can be customised to provide appropriate pelvic and trunk side support and / or to accommodate pelvic and spinal deviations. This support crucially helps in establishing overall alignment of the user.
Pressure Care Seat Cushion
Our buggies are fitted with an adaptable, thick positioning pressure care seat cushion with integrated abduction block. A waterproof cover protects a stable chip foam base and thick high- density foam layer which offer comfort, postural support and skin protection.
Back Cushion
Individual cotton covers enclose multiple layers of high-density foam supports, which can be added or removed, providing a firm backrest to this seating unit. This can be modified by means of cut away and build ups to accommodate users with complex spinal, pelvis and hip deviations.
Padded Pelvic Strap
An adjustable padded pelvic strap is fitted as standard, helping maintain stability of the pelvis, the correct positioning of the user and preventing shear forces, a common cause of pressure sores amongst wheelchair users.
Adjustable Tilt In Space
Tilt-in-space adjustment is fitted as standard with each mobility base option.
It helps both for positioning and pressure relief.
Accessory Options
Madiba Headrest
A soft foam head support that cushions the users head to promote the correct alignment and positioning of the head. Can be built up to provide more complex support.
Madiba Adjustable Headrest
This headrest extension is a useful accessory for increasing the adjustment and positioning range of the Madiba headrest.
Mitt Headrest
The gently angled side extensions of our innovative Mitt headrest provide proprioceptive feedback to the sides of the child’s face, and encourage children to independently realign the position of their head and thereby improve their neck control.
Madiba Laptray
A basic removable laptray fitted as a standard feature provides both additional posture support to the user’s upper body and a useful surface for daily activities.
Madiba Padded Laptray
Similiar in function to the Posture Laptray it is produced with durable vinyl covered foam padding.
Madiba Clear Laptray
Similiar in size and function to the Posture Laptray it is produced in a clear transparent Polycarbonate plastic.
Footbox
The footbox can be adjusted in height to ensure the correct position of both feet and legs, improving sitting balance, providing comfort and ensuring optimal pressure distribution. The sides are padded to prevent injury.
Footbox Side Extension
When the height of the side panels of the standard footbox are no longer sufficient, an optional footbox side extension can be fitted.
Custom Footbox
Where a more supportive foot rest is required a custom size and shape footbox is available.
Padded Chest Strap
An adjustable padded chest strap can be fitted as an optional extra. This acts as an aid to help influence the muscle tone of wheelchair users, in order maintain a neutral posture, which facilitates improved function.
Padded Thigh & Knee Strap
An adjustable padded thigh or knee strap can be fitted as an optional extra. This acts as an aid to help influence the muscle tone of wheelchair users, in order maintain a neutral posture, which facilitates improved function.
Forearm Cuff
