We facilitated a series of 7 LTD@Work (Let’s Talk Disability) workshops over Zoom between 6 – 15 February. This was part of FirstRand Foundations FirstJob Programme. Supervisors and management staff from 80 different NGO’s participated in the training.
During our first workshop it was interesting to hear about how different employers are trying to implement inclusion in the workplace. They were really enthusiastic about the social model of disability and about addressing barriers for people with disabilities.
The one key message was that they should have open spaces for dialogue on disability to ensure everyone has access to this information in the workplace.
Grootbos Foundation (Gansbaai) and Sibikwa (Ekuruleni) are both already discussing and implementing inclusion in various ways.
It was great to engage with organisations and individuals who are excited to advocate for reasonable accommodation to promote disability inclusion in their workplaces!
