We were involved in three programmes in series 1 of SABC 2’s television programme, Activated, which is a disability actuality television series that focuses on raising awareness about disability-related issues.
In the first episode, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, our Founder and Executive Director, Shona McDonald speaks about the challenges of children with mobile disabilities and what we can do differently to change the narrative for children who are non-verbal.

In the second episode, Celebrating the womanhood of mothers of children with disabilities, our Founder and Executive Director, Shona McDonald speaks about our Parent Champion Network and how we support mothers, and in turn, how mothers can support their child.

In the third episode, Disability Inclusive Ecosystems Liberate, Vic and Emma McKinney speak about inclusive ecosystems where society removes environmental and attitudinal barriers on transport systems, educational facilities, public spaces, workplaces, places of worship, and sports and recreation facilities in the community.
SSE works very closely with Emma and Vic. Vic is on the board of directors for the Uhambo Foundation, and Vic’s chair was designed and supplied by Shonaquip.
